2012-2013 Schedules

I had such good intentions for my little blog and I so wanted to at least write in it once a week, but the days, weeks and months have flown by.  But today I had a couple of requests for the schedules I wrote up for my kids and so I figured the easiest way to get them to those who wanted them was through my blog.

What I love about having a schedule is twofold:  first, my kids know what needs to be done and, therefore, the arguing and fighting over schoolwork has diminished.  Though, I must admit I don't think it will ever completely go away. And secondly, my children do almost all of their work on their own.

Getting their schoolwork done without my involvement actually begin to happen by accident.  The kids would come to me and ask for help, but I had a 2 year old to take care of when we first started out homeschooling and a house to keep organized and so many times I would say in a few minutes.  Well, if you are a mom you know a few minutes turns into 15 or more minutes and my children would get tired of waiting and would just read the directions and do the work themselves.  Boy, was this a life saver for our family!  Now, my 2 oldest only come to me for help when they truly need it. Even when they do come with a question I usually tell them to read the directions a few more times and more often-than-not they come up with the answer on their own.

I tell people, I don't teach my children - they teach themselves.  It is the best part of homeschooling for our family.  It frees up my time to deal with the youngest and to take care of my duties as a homemaker, wife and mother.

So here are the schedules my children use:

Kindergarten Schedule
4th Grade Schedule
6th Grade Schedule

By the way, we loosely homeschool using the Trivium.  So my 4th grader is doing modern history and physics, but also loves to read so we added Sonlight Core F.  My 6th grader is doing history of the middle ages and earth science.  Also, for the 6th grade schedule I have the poems I picked for the year and some other miscellaneous info for writing a paper.  My hope is you can take the schedules and tweak them for your child and curriculum.
