$50 Per Week Grocery Challenge: Week #7

How Much Did I Spend For Week #7?

I am a bit late getting this post out this week, but it was Mother's Day yesterday and I had a wonderful day with my kids and husband and our parents.  It was warm and sunny and my husband and father-in-law made us scrumptious meal, but now Mother's Day is gone and my week begins. Somehow the day seems a bit flat and I feel a great weight of so called important things that need to get done:  cleaning, meals, painting the porch, repacking the winter clothes and taking out the summer, finishing up our school year and starting the summer lessons, etc.  There is so much to do and the sky is cloudy.  Not a great way to start the week.

But back to my post.  This week I went to two stores and went over my $50 by $2.17, but I have quite a bit to dip into as I spent so little the last 6 weeks.  My splurge this week was red potatoes over the russet and mushrooms.  I hate all potatoes but red and I was making kabobs this week and really wanted the mushrooms.  Also, I did not add in the Little Caesar's Pizza as I decided not to add eating out to our $50 per week grocery challenge.  But the pizza did cost $5.28 if you think I should add it to my week's worth of food.

Here is the breakdown for Week #7

Meat:  5 lbs of Chicken Breast for $1.79 / lb., 2 Packages of Little Sizzlers for $.98 each

Fruit and Vegetables:  Oranges at $.88 / lb, A bunch of Bananas for $1.73, 1 Green Pepper at $.88, Onions for $.97 / lb, Red Potatoes for $5.98, Free Frozen Green Beans, 1 lb Mushrooms at $3.59
