$50 Per Week Grocery Challenge - Week #14

How Much Did I Spend For Week #14?

I spent more this week than the $40 (my total was $44.21) as we were getting together with 2 other couples to celebrate 3 of our birthdays.  Our Pastor, a friend and myself all share the same birth date (not year - I'm the youngest. Hee hee!) and we decided to have an early celebration as one of the group was going to be out of town July 18th.  So, I picked up a few extra groceries to make the special meal.  It was to be held at our home, but due to the water situation (see here) we moved it to another location.  It was a wonderful evening.  The kids get along so well and the two other couples are a blast.

Here is the breakdown for Week #14

Meat:  Imitation Crab - $3.18 (my splurge for the week)

Fruit and Vegetables:  Bananas - $2.02, Carrots - $1.79, 10 Ears of Corn - $1.00, 3 Bell Peppers - $2.04, 1 lb Mushrooms - $3.00

Dairy:  1 Gallon of Milk - $3.79, 2 Gallons of Milk - $3.57 each, 4 lbs Butter - $1.88/lb

Misc.:  3 Boxes of Shell Pasta - Free, Angel Food Cake Mix - $.98, Mayonnaise - $1.98, 4 12 Packs of Coke - $8.88 (Plus tax of $.89)

Meals we had this week:

Breakfast:  Homemade GranolaHomemade Grape Nuts, Oatmeal, Malt-O-Meal, Waffles or Toast.

Dinner:  Leftovers from supper or Sandwiches from my Freshly Ground Whole Wheat Bread and Yogurt

Supper:

Sunday - Fend for Yourself Night and Popcorn

Monday - Calico Beans, Corn Bread and Corn

Tuesday - Pasta Salad with Peas and Imitation Crab and Spinach/Lettuce Salad from the Garden

Wednesday - Roast on the Grill, Baked Potatoes on the Grill and leftover Pasta Salad

Thursday - Leftover night

Friday - Birthday Celebration with Friends:  I made Kabobs, Pasta Salad, Bread and Carrot Cake

Saturday - The Hubby and I went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.  His work gives $60 per quarter to each employee to have a date night.  The kids were left home to fend for themselves.  I think they had leftovers.

Desserts:
Carrot Cake
