$50 Per Week Grocery Challenge: Week #8

How Much Did I Spend For Week #8?

I went to 3 stores this week to purchase my groceries and spent a total of $44.85.  I didn't purchase any meat this week, but had to use what I had in my freezer.  Hopefully next week there are some good sales, especially hamburger.  I did purchase quite a bit of fruit and vegetables and a few other items.

This is my 8th week doing this challenge and so far I have spent a total of $326.73.  This gives me $73.27 to spend on meat, Sams club, Azure or a major sale.  I am quite pleased with how I am able to feed my family nutritious meals and keep my grocery bills so low.

Here is the breakdown for Week #8

Meat:  None

Fruit and Vegetables:  A jar of sun-dried tomatoes for $2.68, a bag of coconut for $1.72, bananas for $1.68, lettuce for $.99, 5 lbs of russet potatoes for $1.66, 5 lbs red potatoes for $2.88, sweet onions for $1.31, red onions for $1.31, apples for $3.19, broccoli for $4.80

Dairy:  4 gallons of milk at $3.46 each

Misc.:  Mayonnaise for $1.77, 3 boxes of pasta for $.77 each, 3 boxes of mac & cheese for a total of $.96, free box of egg rolls, 3 dozen eggs at $.98 each

Here is a list of the meals we had this week:

Breakfast:  Homemade GranolaHomemade Grape Nuts, Oatmeal, Malt-O-Meal, Waffles or Toast.

Dinner:  Leftovers from supper or Sandwiches from my Freshly Ground Whole Wheat Bread and Yogurt

Supper:
Sunday -  My Father-in-Law made us an amazing Mother's Day meal and I was so stuffed I couldn't even think of food.  I am not even sure if the kids even ate anything for supper?  It was Mother's Day and I didn't lift a finger when it came to feeding my family today.  I am so blessed to have such great in-laws, a loving husband and beautiful and kind children.

Monday - Leftovers from the Mother's Day meal:  Steak, potatoes and salad.

Tuesday - Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Spinach Salad

Wednesday - Pasta with Chicken, Spinach and Sun-dried Tomatoes

Thursday - Pasta leftovers and Potato Salad I made form my child's v-ball team get together.

Friday - Soft Shelled Tacos

Saturday - Steak, Potato Salad and Broccoli Salad.  My parents brought the steak and I made the salads and a batch of cookies for dessert.  We grilled the steaks and had a nice summer meal.  A great way to end the week.

Desserts: Peanut Butter Cookies (made for the v-ball team get together), Carrot Cake and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
